It is no wonder why Silicon Valley Major tech company directors do not introduce their kids to screens until they are 15 years old. And it’s not just Steve Jobs, there are schools in Silicon Valley which do not use any screen time full of kids of many Tech directors. The reason is, introducing the screen early into the developmental age disrupts proper focus and increases impulsivity.
Currently we have kids spending more than 8 hrs per day on screens with smartphones is the main culprit. With some people experiencing game transfer phenomenon, where a person is unable to tell apart reality from delusion, like real drug induced psychosis. (Really scary stuff)
During my practice I see more and more tech additions between youth and young adults. And when kids have parents to monitor them, many college students do not have that oversight while on campus and may engage in addictive style behaviors.
Therefore, video game and tech addiction are a growing concern which needs to be addressed. In addition, being able to discuss things with students do not feel comfortable discussing with family or friends.
